Inspiring Career Journeys at Clarity Robotics - Business Development Career Paths

At Clarity, no two career paths are the same. The role of Business Development Manager (BDM) is often a springboard to broader opportunities, and our employees’ journeys showcase how diverse experiences can lead to growth in this dynamic field. Below, we highlight five real Clarity professionals who either currently thrive as BDMs after transitioning from other roles, or who started as BDMs and have since advanced to higher positions within Clarity. Their stories – spanning science, sales, finance, law and more – illustrate the limitless career paths and internal mobility Clarity offers to those with passion, talent, and drive.

Cornelia – Business Development Manager (Oncology Partnerships)

Cornelia’s journey demonstrates how scientific expertise can pave the way to a business career. Armed with a PhD in biochemistry, she spent years as a principal scientist and laboratory head in Clarity's oncology research unit, specializing in antibody-drug conjugates.

In that role, she led an immuno-oncology lab and managed innovative research projects, publishing findings and building deep expertise in biologics. Eager to broaden her impact, Cornelia transitioned to a Business Development Manager position in 2024, where she now leverages her research background to evaluate new partnership opportunities and collaborations. Her analytical skills and eye for innovation have been key in scouting cutting-edge therapies for Clarity's portfolio.

Education: Cornelia earned a doctoral degree (PhD) in a life sciences field, which honed her analytical and project management skills.

Skills: Scientific research & analysis, cross-functional collaboration, strategic planning, and innovation leadership.

Professional focus: Cornelia’s scientific insight helps bridge the gap between R&D and business, enabling her to identify promising oncology partnerships and guide them from lab to market. Her story is an inspiring example of reinventing one’s career – moving from the lab bench to the negotiation table while staying within the same company.

Nataliya – Business Development Manager (Global Market Access)

Nataliya’s path underscores the value of a global and interdisciplinary perspective in business development. With an academic background in international law – she earned a Master’s in International & EU Law in Kyiv and an LL.M. in Human Rights from Central European University in Hungary – Nataliya began her career outside of pharma, focusing on policy and international relations.

She brought this unique perspective to Clarity, where she now works as a Business Development Manager on global initiatives. Her legal expertise and cultural fluency have been invaluable in navigating partnerships across different countries and ensuring compliance with international regulations. Nataliya is known for her skills in communication, negotiation and problem-solving, which she honed through her legal training and advocacy work. She even authored scholarly work on EU immigration policy early in her career, demonstrating her passion for addressing complex global challenges.

Education: Master’s in International Law (Kyiv) and LL.M. in Human Rights (Budapest)

Skills: Legal analysis, contract negotiation, risk assessment, cross-cultural communication, and strategic partnership management.

Volunteering/Community: Nataliya remains engaged in community education efforts, often volunteering to speak with students about careers in science and law, and she is an advocate for diversity in the workplace.

Focus areas: In her current role, she helps forge partnerships that improve global access to medicines, applying her big-picture mindset to align business goals with positive social impact. Nataliya’s journey shows how unconventional backgrounds (like law and policy) can lead to fulfilling careers in pharma business development.

Monica – Business Development & Licensing (BD&L) Manager (Latin America)

Monica’s career is a testament to growth from within. She joined Clarity over two decades ago and built a 17-year track record in strategic roles spanning Finance, Business Intelligence, and Sales. This broad experience gave her a 360° view of the pharmaceutical business.

In 2013, Monica stepped into a Business Development & Licensing Manager role in São Paulo, Brazil – a position she has held for over 11 years. In this capacity, she leads BD&L efforts on prioritized projects across multiple franchises, serving as the primary representative for partnership and licensing deals. Monica’s financial acumen and analytical skills (honed in her earlier roles) make her a formidable deal-maker who can assess opportunities both strategically and commercially.

Education: She holds a degree in Business Administration, and has continually updated her expertise with professional courses in finance and strategy (leveraging Clarity’s learning programs).

Skills: Strategic planning, financial analysis, market intelligence, negotiation, and cross-functional leadership.

Professional accomplishments: Monica has successfully negotiated key licensing agreements that expanded Clarity’s presence in Latin America, and she mentors junior team members on business strategy. Her journey from an entry-level analyst to a seasoned BD&L Manager highlights Clarity’s commitment to internal mobility, and shows how diverse skill sets can converge into a leadership role in business development.
